About Our Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) view photo
Come and experience the winter fantasyland of naturally sculptured snow and ice
brought to life under the brilliance
of the Arctic sun and the dancing Aurora Borealis.
Aurora Borealis or "Northern Lights" happens when electrically charged electrons in the
earth's upper atmosphere collide with gas atoms, causing the atoms to give off light. The Wat'chee Lodge area
offers up some of the best viewing for Aurora Borealis on the planet. Due to it's remote location in the subarctic of northern Canada, where the
Aurora Borealis is most active, there is virtually no "light pollution" and observers
are
free to study, photograph and generally enjoy this brilliant and uniquely northern atmoshpheric spectacle. <<back
